Sam Bagenda is a Ugandan actor, producer and director in one of the oldest theatrical groups known as the Ebonies. He has been in the acting and film industry for the last 33years making him one of the legendary actors in the group.
The choir he began after being banished of his rights in church after he tried revamping the choir presentations called the Sun Rose walked him into his first breakthrough when he was scouted out by Jimmy Katumba with the Ebonies to act which led him to his first acting scene as a priest in the stage play ‘The Dollar’. He has been recorgnised and awarded for his prominence in the Film industry both locally and internationally.
Sam has faced some challenges along his journey like his acting career has come at the expense of indulging with his family. The film industry lacks a governing body that represents their views, grievances to the government as many of the challenges that they face are less acknowledged and improved upon. This has left the industry progress dwindling.
He has helped a lot of youth exploit their creativity level and given them a platform to perform and embrace the arts and make successful careers out their talents and ideologies. He urges the youth to borrow a leaf from his five P’s of Prayer, Patience, Persistence, Passion, and Positivity. These are a yard stick to a successful career and a sense of Belonging in not only the film industry but also the outside world.
